My work focuses on the identification of the sacred and profane and how they exist in the all-encompassing human experience. Through my work, I explore sensations of loneliness and noise in order to mimic the everyday. However, I also strive to bring awareness to moments of comfort because this is what disrupts the mundane.
Sacredness and security are naturally juxtaposed with profanity in the world we live in. But without the mundane and grime, there is nothing to emphasize the particularly brilliant and enlightening moments of our life. The materials I primarily use reference the actions of accumulation, nesting, and burial. Through my mark making and multi-material usage, I strive to explore primal needs and human essentiality, in an abstract and inner-landscape context. |
